I lived in Culross till I was 1 year old. I came back each summer to stay with my grandparents. I remember buildings black with the stour of centuries. I remember gray clouds that strained the light. Today the causeway stones gleam, the mercat cross sports baskets of gay geraniums, the walls sparkle with whitewash and 10th-Century saffronwash.

Lovely photo Elaine, the glass candle holders? are such a beautiful colour, I like the swirling effect in the glass, were they a Mothers' Day present? And of course that little elephant is just so cute.:)
I think the little elephant is cute too. That's why I keep snapping him w/ different glass candle holders behind him. This time I lit the candles. I posted an earlier one here: http://culross.blogspot.com/2008/02/candle-holders-incense-holder.html
Thanks for the tip, btw. That would make a good Mother's Day gift. Way better than the diamond necklance that the commercials try to sell...
I remember, I commented on that picture as well, but these candle holders are extremely lovely and as I said before that elephant is so cute, they are supposed to bring you luck I have been told. :)
